Today, another court date. This one was meant to be smaller, and not as significant. Anthony Christensen put forth a few motions to the judge, which needed to be addressed. Apparently, he feels he is being treated unfairly because they are not granting all his requests, and he does not feel safe in his confinement. The judge was very to the point, and denied each of his motions one by one. They also scheduled the Preliminary hearing for December 12, 2017. Now, for those of you not familiar with how the justice system works, here is what we can expect from the upcoming court date.
A preliminary trial is basically a "trial before the trial" and it is considered one of the most important steps in court processing. It is where they deliver all of the gathered evidence, and decide whether or not they have enough to send it to a grand jury trial. Prosecutors must demonstrate that there is sufficient evidence, or probable cause, such that the jury will be convinced enough that the person is guilty. We are confident that the evidence will be more than enough, and are all thinking positively about this upcoming preliminary trial, and ask you all to do the same. Thank you for your continued support, endless love, and prayers as our family continues on this long and difficult journey.
