October is National Domestic Violence Awareness month, and with it fast approaching at only a month away here are some thoughts.
The goal of our foundation and of all the others is to raise awareness and help in the fight to end DV once and for all. During the month of October we ask everyone to be especially supportive and open about the issue. If you're a survivor, share your story. If you're a victim, get the help you deserve. If you're just very supportive of the cause talk about why you support it. Go to DV walks around your community, put on a fundraiser, educate those around you about the resources that are available to help those who need to escape. We want to encourage every single one of you to take the time to do some research and do anything you can to help the cause. As always we appreciate your love, support and loyal hearts for backing us as a foundation and our cause and most of all for loving Kammy. Best Wishes -C

Last year in the state of Utah, 36 people lost their lives due to Domestic Violence... 36 lives, 36 funerals, 36 is far too many.
The even more troubling part of this information is the devastating trend seems to only rise higher every single year in this state we call home. DV has been noted as the "Biggest Contributor to Homicide Deaths in the State" during 2017 as well as previous years. Now ask yourself, is this acceptable in any sense? The answer is NO. Now, how can you help? You're just one person right? Yes, you may just be one person, but by standing with us, standing with all the other organizations around the state working tirelessly to end the troubling epidemic of DV in our state and our nation you are one among millions, and together we CAN make a difference. How? Well, keep a list of resources handy if you meet someone you feel may be suffering from abuse from their partner, speak up and give them resources. Be a safe place, a shoulder, someone to lean on for anyone you know who may be a victim. You could be saving their lives. |
